Many Lives are Impacted When One Influences a Woman...Especially a Young Woman;--girl talk

My Girlfriend’s House presents Girl Talk - a mentoring program designed to assist high school senior girls learn the skills they’ll need to succeed in college, life, and the business world. Through monthly mentoring workshops, community service projects, and career building activities, we empower our young divas to strive to be their best in their professional and personal lives.

Through school outreach and an application process, MGH will select high school seniors in Maryland, DC, and Virginia to participate in our monthly workshops which will take place from October to June. The workshops last for two hours and are broken up into three sections that will focus on: career preparation, health and beauty, and relationship building. A special guest presenter will host each workshop and help participants understand the importance of making good decisions, developing social and leadership skills, and preparing for a successful future.


What is Girl Talk?

Girl Talk is a nationally accredited mentoring program that facilitates positive group meetings, community service projects and friendship building activities for middle and high school young ladies. Lead by members of My Girlfriend’s House the program is designed to help develop key leadership skills they will use throughout life.

Girl Talk reaches more than 30,000 in 27 states each week during the school year.


    • Last school year, Girl Talk Girls & Leaders completed more than 312,000 hours of community service.
    • According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention and shoolmatters.com, youth who are mentored are:
    • 46% less likely to use illegal drugs / 27% less likely to use alcohol /
    • 52% less likely to skip school.

Program Overview

Through open forum, projects, community service activities, we aim to empower teenage girls build self-esteem, develop their strengths and leadership abilities, live up to their highest potential and motivate each other to become more influential voices in their community.

The workshops include:


    • Diva Enterprise: Career and Education planning
    • Beauty and Brains: Health and Beauty advice
    • Girl Talk: Relationships and Networking building


We want our girls to strong, smart, and motivated and this program provides them with the necessary tools and resources to do it.


You can walk the walk in your five inch heels, now let’s do it for the young ladies who soon will have to fill those shoes. Please consider becoming a mentor for the Girl Talk Mentor program.
