My Girlfriend’s House is committed to building positive self-esteem and inspiring women and girls to understand their strengths and confidence. The Purse Strings Drive has been at the core of our mission since launching the organization in 2010. It was through this initiative that we discovered our purpose and expanded our services to the community.

We continue to build a movement that enables women and teens everywhere to have the tools they need to feel beautiful and confident in their skin. Through this annual charitable program, My Girlfriend’s House is challenged with collecting 800 purses and personal care items in 30 days.

Throughout the month of October, we seek the support of corporations, local businesses and individuals to collect gently used and new purses and personal care items to go inside. We then host a Purse Stuffing Party, where individuals of the community come together to help us fill each purse and prepare them for donation. Purses are then dispersed to 20-25 area shelters, group homes and foster care agencies throughout the DC, VA and MD regions.

Each year, we’ve shattered our goal of 800 purses, allowing us to impact more women and girls in our community. With your help we can continue the trend of exceeding expectations and helping more women.
